About Us

Citizens’ Coalition for Accountability in Telecommunications in Samoa (CCATS) is a non-partisan coalition of concerned Samoans. Our aim is to provide public awareness on all the issues that adversely affect Samoans relating to telecommunications services. We do so, in good faith and with the understanding that Samoa deserves better and with a deep conviction that an informed society is a better place to live and thrive.

Aleisa Petition for Landline

For the past nine years the residents of Aleisa and the surrounding areas have been petitioning for fixed-line telephone service in their area. The number of petitioners today has surpassed 200, and yet there has been no official response from SamoaTel, nor are there any plans to bring telephone services to Aleisa. The last submission of the signed petition (see partial list) to Mr. Mike Johnstone, CEO of SamoaTel, was on 24 May 2006. There has been no written comments nor any response from Mr. Johnstone concerning the petition and the matter has been ignored once again.

See Petition Letter submitted to CEO of SamoaTel, Mr. Mike Johnstone!
